Neil Mitchell clashes with Qantas executive on 3AW
Neil Mitchell has clashed with Qantas over the cost of flights.
The average Qantas flight costs “about 20 per cent” more than it did pre-pandemic, but the airline made a record profit in the last six months.
Neil Mitchell said Australians had the right to be dirty about that, given taxpayers chipped in two billion dollars to help keep the national carrier afloat.
Andrew McGinnes, Group Executive of Corporate Affairs at Qantas, told Neil Mitchell supply and demand was driving prices up.
Neil Mitchell: “That’s called gouging.”
“I have got to reject the notion we’re gouging,” Mr McGinnes said.
