‘Negligible’: Industry expert hits out at proposed short-stay levy

An industry expert has hit out at the state government’s proposed 7.5 per cent levy on short-stays.

Senior director of government and corporate affairs at Stayz, Eacham Curry, says research has found short-term stays have little impact on the market.

“Short-term letting has been around for decades and decades … we’re neither the cause or the solution to the problem of housing availability or affordability,” he told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Tom Elliott.
