Nearly 12,000 Melburnians sign up for Spencer Tunick’s latest mass nude photo shoot
Internationally renowned nude crowd photographer Spencer Tunick says he’s surprised how many Melburnians signed up to take part in the Chapel Street photo shoot.
On Monday, he will photograph between 350-500 people on top of a Woolworths carpark, after the supermarket chain bowed to public pressure to allow the New York photographer to take over the Prahan carpark.
Nearly 12,000 people offered to take part in the photo shoot.
“I’m always surprised that I get high numbers in Australia, because it’s really difficult to get that many people,” he told Nick McCallum.
“Many European countries are not as open minded as Australia.
“‘(Australians) are brave, resilient, courageous. They go beyond their limits.”
He also promised to work quickly on Monday morning, saying he’s conscious it will be a cold winter’s morning for those taking part in the spectacle.
