NAB chief address alarming royal commission revelations
NAB boss Andrew Thorburn has addressed the revelations surrounding the Royal Commission.
Mr Thorburn admitted on 3AW Mornings some of his staff had been committing fraudulent activity.
“I’ve unfortunately seen it too many times,” Mr Thorburn told Neil Mitchell.
“Staff – despite the code of conduct, controls and the rules – will step over a line and do something that is not just wrong, but dishonest.”
Neil Mitchell: “Is this why you didn’t want a Royal Commission?”
Andrew Thorburn: “The vast, vast majority our 33,000 people are doing the right thing. They believe that banking is about integrity, good conduct and good service. Some step over that line, but when we find them – and we will double down on finding them – we’ll act swiftly and firmly.”
