Mystery around Nick Kyrgios deepens ahead of Australian Open
The intrigue around Nick Kygios’ comeback at the Australian Open continues to deepen just days before he’s due to hit the court.
The 29-year-old pulled out of a planned exhibition match against Novak Djokovic on Thursday, revealing he had picked up an abdominal strain in the lead-up to the year’s first major.
It then emerged on Friday that Kyrgios’ training session on Court 3 was closed to the media, but 3AW reporter Eddie Summerfield managed to gain access as part of the general public.

“It’s just a weird situation,” he told Tony Jones from Melbourne Park.
Kyrgios will take on world number 86 Jacob Fearnley in his first-round Australian Open encounter, which is expected to take place on Monday.
Asked Nick about this “closed session”this morning.
“The media loves me for some reason.”
“It wasn’t actually suppose to be a closed session at all, I think it was a misunderstanding.”#AusOpen @3AW693 https://t.co/xTEC1ZrsWH pic.twitter.com/bDFpvLBxMl
