Muṯitjulu school principal Trish Noy says the students she looks after are “the most incredible children she’s ever worked with”.

The school, located 450 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs, has between 30 and 40 students.

And last week they welcomed tennis world No. 1 Ash Barty.

Barty delivered racquets and hosted a clinic as part of the Red Dust program, which aims to inspire change in remote areas through “community-as-family” programs.

Ms Noy said there were a number of reason why the students were so special.

“For me it’s their love of learning, they’re like little sponges,” she told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings.

“It’s their resilience, it doesn’t matter what’s happened to them outside of school, as soon as they walk in those gates they’ve got the biggest smile, they’ve got the most amazing stories to tell me.

“And it’s how they look after each other.

“I don’t think there’s enough words in the dictionary, actually, to describe them.”
