Motorists urged to use detours as major delays continue on the West Gate

It comes after it was reduced to one out-bond lane due to works which will be completed on January 4.

Some motorists were caught performing dangerous manouveres to get out of the traffic on Tuesday.
Chris Miller from the Department of Transport urged motorists to use the detour routes.
“What I suppose is slightly troubling is our detour routes are empty,” he said on 3AW Mornigns.
“So people are basically coming through the Domain Tunnel and then encountering a sort of wall of traffic from around about Montague Street.
“So what I would encourage every body to do is not to even get to that point”.
