Mornington Peninsula cafe owner blasts council’s food truck plan

A business owner on the Mornington Peninsula is frustrated with council plans to triple the number of food trucks in the area.

Owner of Milk Bar and Co in Mt Martha, Ryan Barkley, told Neil Mitchell that the decision would allow trucks to “just park whenever they please”.

Mr Barkley is concerned about the impact this will have on his trade.

“It’s a disturbing concept for local businesses that are here all year round,” he said.

“The food trucks have no commitment to the area. They don’t have to pay rent,” Mr Barkley said. “It’s just … not a level playing field.”
