More trouble at Parkville Youth Justice Centre, as secret report exposes chaos in system

There’s been another riot at the Parkville Youth Justice Centre.

The alleged incident, which happened on Tuesday, comes as a secret report exposes the chaos within Victoria’s youth justice system.

Detailed in The Age, the report reveals the over-zealous use of lockdowns – due to a lack of staff – caused increased tensions leading to a riot at Parkville in March.

The Government has announced a series of reforms, including a massive upgrade to the Parkville facility.

But the opposition’s Georgie Crozier has called on Jenny Mikakos to resign, with yet more trouble at Parkville on Tuesday.

‘It started around lunchtime and was still going into the evening last night,’ she told 3AW News.

‘Again, it demonstrates this situation isn’t under control.’
