Missing Benalla mother, daughter found dead

A mother and daughter who have been missing for a week have been found dead, police have confirmed.

Isabel, 89, and Judy, 53, Stephens went missing in Benalla, 212km north east of Melbourne, last weekend, prompting days of searching.

Earlier on Saturday, police officers were on the ground and in the air searching for them, with an information booth set up in the town.

Police confirmed shortly before 9PM that the pair had been found in bushland near Samaria.

The exact circumstances of their deaths are yet to be determined, however at this time police do not do not believe it is suspicious.

“Sadly two bodies have been located during a search for two missing Benalla women,” police tweeted.
