Mental health support is what brought Shane Watson four years of world-class cricket.

The former Australian star spoke with Neil Mitchell about embracing mindfulness, a journey which is detailed in his book ‘Winning the Inner Battle.’

“Once you deeply define what that best version of you looks like, then you know every day what you are chasing,” he said.

Watson said the tragic on-field death of former teammate Phillip Hughes in 2014 was the catalyst for him seeking mental health assistance.

“The innocence of the game of cricket just vanished at that time,” he said.

“It was a huge challenge to be able to get that thought out of your mind.”
