Mike Brady’s musical tribute to country footy
Mike Brady has rejected calls for the AFL grand final entertainment to be Australian artists only.
Tom Elliott says he can’t understand why the league pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to get international acts to perform.
But Brady, who has performed at more grand finals than anybody else, said the international flavour added something different.
“I don’t think we should just stick to local acts, because we look a bit hokey,” he said on 3AW.
“I do agree it’s a unique game, but the Super Bowl has everybody from Paul McCartney, to Mick Jagger, to Beyoncé – they mix it up.
“We look a little bit parochial if we just had Australian acts.
“I would like to see the Australian acts figure a bit more in the entertainment, with a bigger billing on them.”
