Melbourne scientists using shark blood to treat human health problems
Melbourne scientists are looking at using shark blood to treat a range of health problems, including fibrosis.
Researchers at La Trobe University and a biotechnology company have created a protein that’s being used for conditions including fibrosis of the lungs, liver and heart.
Dr Mick Foley, from La Trobe’s Institute for Molecular Science, told Ross and John sharks had a small antibody that can be harnessed to try to cells connected to conditions like cancer.
