Melbourne rattled by largest earthquake in region in over 120 years
Melbourne has been rattled by the strongest earthquake in the metropolitan region in more than 120 years.
The magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck near Sunbury at 11.41pm.

Chief Scientist at the Seismology Research Centre, Adam Pascale, says it’s “pretty significant”.
He told Ross and Russel the 2021 Mansfield earthquake, which was felt in Melbourne, was “probably 100 times bigger … but it was 130 kilometres away from Melbourne”.

It was felt across most suburbs, with the shake extending as far north as Bendigo and as far south as Hobart.
