Melbourne confirms the news Demon fans were dreading about Luke Jackson

Luke Jackson has requested a trade home to Western Australia.

Melbourne confirmed the news on Tuesday.

It had long been speculated the premiership player would seek a move at the end of the season, after just three seasons with the Demons.

The club says it is “disappointed” but respected Jackson’s decision.

“We will now work to secure a deal that compensates the club accordingly,” Melbourne’s list manager, Tim Lamb, said in a statement.

The Demons said they would deal with both West Coast and Fremantle.
