Maui man who ‘lost everything’ in fires shares alarming message
A business owner who “lost everything” in the wildfires in Hawaii says “the world is changing” and the disaster was like nothing Maui has ever seen before.
The death toll stands at 53, at least 270 buildings have been destroyed.

Resident Alan Dickar told Neil Mitchell the island wasn’t prepared for the situation. Its fire services are used to fighting grassfires, but were instead confronted by a wildfire fanned by hurricane-force winds.
“The world is changing, this fire really shouldn’t have been possible but it happened … it was fast, and brutal and complete,” he said.
