‘Mature process’: Matthew Lloyd backs Essendon over contract stand-offs
Matthew Lloyd says he’s a fan of the way Essendon is approaching its contract negotiations with several of its players.
Sam McClure broke the news on 3AW that the Bombers are holding firm on not handing both Stringer and defender Jayden Laverde multi-year deals for 2025 and beyond.
Lloyd told Wide World of Sports Essendon was conducting a “mature process” when it comes to the negotiations for several of their players.

“The honesty has come out (during this process),” he said on Wide World of Sports.
“If (Stringer) can’t get two years, he may stay at Essendon. It’s a pretty mature response from the club.”
