Matthew Richardson calls for key change to Rising Star eligibility rules
The two leading candidates for this year’s Rising Star are expected to be both ruled out for the award as a result of respective suspensions.
Darcy has already copped a two-game ban for a late hit on Brayden Maynard, while Harley Reid is also tipped to be handed a ban for a dangerous tackle on Darcy Wilson.
Matthew Richardson says the current rules on eligibility to win the Rising Star should be changed, allowing players who are suspended to still win the award.

“(Both Harley Reid and Sam Darcy) should be eligible for the Rising Star,” he said on 3AW.
“He’ll get his two game ban but I don’t think (Sam Darcy) should be rubbed out for that action for the Rising Star and I don’t think Harley Reid should be either.”
