Matthew Lloyd’s response to candid Zach Merrett interview

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd has responded after Zach Merrett moved to clarify his future in an interview with The Age on Friday.

Merrett confirmed he was made aware St Kilda was prepared to make him a big-money offer, but had opted to stay loyal with the Bombers.

“You wonder whether there’s some people at St Kilda who are not working on the same page,” Matthews said on 3AW Football.

“Was this a position for Zach Merrett to get more money out of the Bombers? It was put to me pretty early on but out of it all, he may look to re-negotiate what he and his manager feels he’s worth at the club.”
