Matthew Lloyd reveals the three champions he tried to get to Essendon

Matthew Lloyd has revealed he met with Wayne Carey, Chris Judd and Jason Akermanis while he was playing in the hope of luring them to Essendon.

“I sat in Wayne Carey’s apartment and pitched to him,” Lloyd said on 3AW Football.

“Myself, James Hird and Kevin Sheedy went and told him why Essendon would be a great fit for him.

“We had the Essendon team with a Wayne Carey magnet at centre half forward.”
