Matthew Lloyd opens up on the ‘alarming’ state of the Essendon Football Club

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd has spoken out on the ‘alarming’ state of his former club, following a tumultuous season on and off the field.

It comes following the club’s review which found players weren’t up to fitness standards and developed in a satisfactory manner.

Lloyd spoke on Sportsday earlier on the review and state of the club.

“Alarming is probably the word I would use,” Lloyd said.

“It’s amazing how players have gone backwards and the lack of All-Australian players across the last 10 years at the Bombers.”
