Master Builders Association addresses ‘rumours’ about Metricon
The Master Builders Association of Victoria has called for calm about the future of Metricon, urging members, clients and the public to “not get caught up in these rumours” about the company’s future.
It comes after the sudden death of Metricon founder and CEO Mario Biasin.
Metricon has since denied reports it’s on the verge of collapse, but officials are set to meet with Victorian treasurer Tim Pallas on Thursday.
Michaela Lihou from MBAV told Neil Mitchell there was no reason to panic.
“We are in close contact with Metricon, at the moment, and we are optimistic about their future,” she said on 3AW.
“We are saddened by the passing of Mario and it’s time for the industry to really stick together and not get caught up in these rumours that are going around at the moment.”
She said the entire sector was facing challenges.
“This is nothing new – the industry as a whole is dealing with supply shortages, skills shortages, price increases and fundamentally, at the moment, builders are having to wear the cost on fixed price contracts,” she said.
