Man trapped, five injured, traffic clogged after five-car Ring Road smash

A man was trapped in his car for half an hour after a multi-vehicle smash that’s causing major delays on the Ring Road this morning.

Five cars were involved in the crash, which happened near Airport Drive at Tullamarine about 6.15am.

Three right lanes were closed to Greenborough-bound traffic for about an hour, with VicRoads urging drivers to find another route.

Five people have been treated by paramedics, including a man aged in his 20s who was trapped for about 30 minutes.

He has a serious back injury.

All five patients have been taken to hospital but are all conscious and breathing.
