Man steals Christmas star and places it on a tree in his backyard at Kerang

Police have been guided by a star to arrest an alleged thief.

They say a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, somehow managed to steal a sizeable star from a community display outside a library in Kerang.

After numerous tip offs as to the location of the stolen star, police tracked it down to a property on Westblade Avenue on Wednesday.

Neighbours called police to report the star was at the top of an 82 foot tree of the man’s backyard.
