Man left with broken ribs and fractured femur after aggravated burglary in Sunbury
A man has been left with serious injuries including broken ribs, a fractured femur and leg wounds after he confronted a man who was trying to steal his car in Sunbury earlier this week.
The 47-year-old man heard a noise just after 4am on Tuesday morning, at his home on Riddell Road Sunbury.
He went downstairs and saw a person starting up his Jeep Cherokee.
The owner tried to open the driver’s side door but the offender continued to drive away, causing the owner to fall underneath the car.
He was run over by the rear driver’s side wheel, the offender drove off and left the victim in his driveway with serious injuries.
Detective Senior Constable Natalie Keogh told Tony Jones the victim remains in hospital.
“He had a hold of the driver’s door and as the driver took off he was taken under the car and run over,” she said.
