Man in underwear chases down thieves on Gold Coast

A Gold Coast man in his undies has gone viral after taking on thieves early yesterday morning.

Mermaid Waters man Steve Middleton was naked when he saw a young man rummaging through his car in his garage at about 4.30am on Monday.

He threw on some underwear and headed out to confront the thief.

“I only saw two of them to start off with and they didn’t seem like much of a challenge for me,” he told Shane McInnes, filling in for Neil Mitchell.

Two other thieves were further up the road, armed with a knife and a bat.

“I didn’t realise there were more guys parked up the road,” Mr Middleton said.

“There was a lot of screaming going on. He was screaming ‘Let me go, let me go’ and I was screaming ‘Help, get out here!’, at the top of our voices.”
