Man seriously injured in terrifying Healesville home invasion

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being bashed in a home invasion at Healesville.

Three unknown offenders broke into the Stephens Road home through a kitchen window at around 7:30pm on Tuesday.

The resident — a 47-year-old man — attempted to defend himself with a stick as the offenders attacked him with edged weapons.

The offenders fled on foot empty handed, while the man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives from the Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit are investigating.

They’re yet to say what the suspected motive is behind the attack and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
