Man dies in horror smash north-east of Melbourne

A man has died in a multi-vehicle crash in Melbourne outer north-east.

Police say two vehicles collided head on just before 6am on the Melba Highway at Dixons Creek.

The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene but incredibly, the driver of the other suffered only minor injuries.

A truck also later collided with the wreckage but the driver wasn’t injured.

The Melba Highway is closed in both directions.
