Man charged over Chapel Street hit-run which killed 27-yr-old Dutch woman

A man has been charged over the hit-run in South Yarra over the weekend, which saw a 27-year-old Dutch cyclist tragically lose her life.
Michael Panayides, a 26-year-old homeless man was charged this afternoon and faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The man has been charged with:
• Culpable driving
• Failing to stop after collision – fatal collision
• Failing to render assistance – fatal collision
• Negligently deal with the proceeds of crime
It is alleged a southbound white Mercedes sedan travelling along Chapel Street was involved in a collision with several parked cars, another moving car and a cyclist, about 10am Sunday.
Witnesses allege Panayides gathered his belongings before fleeing the scene on foot.
He did not apply for bail and his case was adjourned until December 4.
