Man charged after string of carjacking attempts and a burglary in Cheltenham
A man has been charged over three alleged attempted carjackings and an aggravated burglary in Cheltenham.
Police say the man approached a woman and stood in front of her car on Eversham Road at about 7.30pm on Wednesday, threatening the woman before attempting to open her locked door and fleeing.
He’s also accused of forcing entry to a property on the Nepean Highway, assaulting the male occupant and attempting to steal his car keys, before following another tenant into their driveway in the same group of units armed with a weapon stealing the victim’s car keys.
The 49-year-old Bentleigh man fled and was arrested a short distance away.
He’s been charged with attempted carjacking and aggravated burglary and will face court today.
