Man arrested, taken to hospital, after CBD crash

A man is under police guard in hospital after a crash in the CBD.

A 22-year-old man crashed his car into a traffic pole at the intersection of Franklin and William streets just before 8pm on Christmas day.

He tried to run before police arrested him a short distance away.

He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage of the grey Holden Astra station wagon.
