Man arrested over Belgium terror attacks released due to lack of evidence
A man arrested over last week’s terror attacks in Belgium has been released due to a lack of evidence.
The man, known as Faycal C, was taken into custody for his suspected involvement in the Brussels attacks which killed 35 people and injured more than 300.
It had been thought he was the man captured on CCTV at Zaventem Airport moments before the first bombing.
But it’s now believed to be somebody else.
Channel 9’s European correspondent Tom Steinfort told Ross and John it was just another embarrassing blunder by Belgian authorities.
‘This anti-terrorism effort in Belgium has been riddled with bungles for the last few months and this is just another embarrassing back down for them,’ he said on 3AW Breakfast.
