Man arrested after allegedly breaking into woman’s home and assaulting her
A man has allegedly broken into a woman’s home, assaulting her before leading police on a pursuit in Melbourne’s north.
Police said the offender – who is known to the 57-year-old victim – forced his way into the Breffna Street home at Preston.
He’s then alleged to have assaulted the woman, leaving her with minor injuries around 11.30pm on Monday night.
He’s then smashed a Holden sedan into a shop at Northcote – narrowly avoiding a pedestrian.
After doing a few burnouts during a police pursuit, a 65-year-old Brunswick East man was arrested.
