Major retailer to close Docklands store in ‘huge blow’ to precinct

In a major blow to the struggling Docklands area, a major retailer is set to close its store in the precinct.

Caller Charlotte tipped 3AW Mornings off to the relocation, saying staff at the store have told her it’s due to council and state government changes which have seen the cost of operating surge.

Costco country manager Chris Tingman has confirmed the Docklands store will close when a new store opens in Ardeer.

“We feel it is the perfect location for offering more convenience for our rapidly expanding membership base,” he said in a statement.
