Luke Breust doesn’t think Gunston or Mitchell were best afield against Essendon
Luke Breust says Ben Stratton was Hawthorn’s best against Essendon.
Tom Mitchell racked up 43 disposals and Jack Gunston booted five goals, but Breust said it was backman Ben Stratton who was best.
Breust told Sunday Sport Mitchell nearly didn’t get into the Top 3!
“I’ll give Tommy one vote, and sorry to Zach Merrett,” he said.
BREUST’S VOTES
3. Ben Stratton
2. Jack Gunston
1. Tom Mitchell
Breust said it was special to see Hawthorn’s newest cult hero – and his housemate – James Worpel kick the sealing goal.
It’s well documented that Worpel, 19, was recruited with an AFL-ready body.
But Breust said he’s particularly impressed by his legs.
“All I have to do is stand behind him at home and I can see how strong his legs are,” he said.
“It’s no surprise to me that he was able to hold his own in a contest with one of the better one-on-one defenders.”
