AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says Melbourne can follow Richmond’s lead and win the premiership a year after missing out on finals.

Speaking with Neil Mitchell, the league chief said the Demons had what it takes.

“I think Melbourne can win it,” he said.

“I think they’re up and about.”
