The council where a major mixed-use development slated to be built around the Suburban Rail Loop in Melbourne’s north hasn’t been consulted about the finer details of the project, according to the local mayor.

The Box Hill Central North Masterplan has now been approved, with the tallest of the seven buildings planned to rise 50 levels and become one of the tallest towers outside of the CBD.

Whitehorse Council mayor Denise Massoud told 3AW Drive she was disappointed not to have been given more information before the story was published in The Age on Monday.

“Unfortunately we have not been involved in consultation,” she told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Jacqui Felgate.

“We have no visibility on any changes to Whitehorse planning scheme or what has been approved. At this stage, we only know what was in the newspaper on (Monday) morning.”
