Fifteen llamas have escaped and are causing trouble in Red Hill.

They’re proving difficult to catch, prompting a warning to motorists.

“15 of them are wandering around Mornington-Flinders Road down near Shands Road,” Chris Miller from the Department of Transport told Ross and Russel.

“It’s a little bit difficult to get around, you need to sort of go back into mains ridge using Baldrys Road and Purves Road.

“Don’t come flying around any blind corners … because you may be greeted by a group of rather strange looking creatures!”

Listener Diane has lodged a protest…

She says the so-called llamas aren’t llamas at all.

Llama expert Shane Hancock agrees.

“There’s very few llamas in Australia,” he told Ross and Russel.

“I’ve got a funny feeling it’s probably more likely to be alpacas.”
