Police say it’s believed the driver, a man in his 30s, was driving at high speed when he lost control and struck a divider at a tram stop.

The vehicle became airborne before crashing into the tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Toorak Road, between Power Avenue and Glenferrie Road at about 11:40pm.
