Life Saving Victoria’s paddle boarding advice after spate of concerning incidents
Life Saving Victoria is urging beach-goers to be mindful of their abilities after a spate of concerning paddle board incidents.
Four teens were found on Swan Island on Tuesday morning after drifting from Rosebud on paddle boards overnight, and another two women had to be rescued on paddle boards off Frankston on Tuesday evening.
General manager of lifesaving services at Life Saving Victoria, Liam Krige, says the incidents are “really concerning”.

“Make sure you’re checking the conditions before you’re heading out,’ he told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
“Particularly on paddle boards, when combined with strong winds and currents, paddle boards can act like a sail and you can get swept out to sea very, very quickly.
“Be mindful of your own abilities as well, only head to abilities that are specific to your skillset.”
