Liberal senator blasts ‘buffoon’ Marty Sheargold over Matildas comments

Liberal senator Jane Hume has weighed in Marty Sheargold’s divisive comments on the Matildas, calling the radio host and comedian a “buffoon”.

Mr Sheargold is under fire for several comments he made on radio about football and the women’s national team, which were described as “misogynistic crap” by 3AW host Jacqui Felgate.

Ms Hume came out swinging against the Triple M host, saying she would “rather stab (her) eye out” than listen to his daily radio program.

“I thought his comments were the comments of a buffoon,” she said on 3AW Drive.

“To be honest, I would rather stab my eyes out with a fork than listen to his radio show.”
