A Liberal federal candidate has spoken out about the state of the liberal party, conceding the party has an image problem.

Katie Allen, federal candidate for the seat of Higgins, says the number of women in the party has gone backwards since the 2019 federal election but also highlights the leadership of former Prime Minister, Scott Morriosn,

“I’ve been doing some door-knocking, I spoke to a man … and he said ‘Look, I normally vote liberal, but I didn’t vote liberal last time, because of … Scott Morrison’s view on women,” she told Jacqui Felgate.

She says the party needs more women and multi-cultural representation.

“But that’s not the whole story, we really need to appeal to people and understand what are the policies that are going to help make their life better,” she said.
