Public Transport Victoria has today launched a new campaign welcoming people back on to the state’s trains, trams and buses.

Hughesdale Train Station announcer Tas Dimtsis has been lonely as a cloud for the past two years, and he’s keen to see crowds return.

“When there’s no one there it’s … a sad feeling,” he told Ross and Russel.

Public transport patronage is now at about 60 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, and Mr Dimtsis says mask compliance is high.

“I’d say about 90 per cent,” he said.
