Leigh Matthews: Melbourne must make sure Brayden Maynard has bad day on King’s Birthday

Leigh Matthews says Melbourne should “consolidate their focus” on making life tough for Brayden Maynard during Monday’s King’s Birthday blockbuster against Collingwood.

Maynard knocked out Angus Brayshaw during last year’s finals series – the last time these two sides met – with Brayshaw eventually being medically retired following that incident.

The coaching great said after a tough game last weekend, the Demons should turn their attention to quelling the influence of one particular Pie.

“If I was coaching Melbourne – I would be making sure Brayden Maynard has a bad day,” he said on 3AW Football.

“Because they had such a bad game last week, they need to consolidate the focus on something.”
