Lehmann to step down after 2019 Ashes
The 2019 Ashes series will be the last for Australia coach Darren Lehmann.
Darren Lehmann has revealed he will not continue as Australia coach beyond the 2019 Ashes.
Lehmann has led Australia to a pair of home Ashes victories, as well as World Cup glory in 2015, and is seeking a second successive home whitewash with his side leading the current series 3-0.
But he has yet to oversee an Ashes victory in England, where Australia will try to defend their World Cup crown prior to another battle for the urn in 2019, and his final attempt at doing so will be his last act as Australia coach.
Speaking to Fox Sports, Lehmann, when asked if he will seek a new deal beyond 2019, said: “That will be it.
“It will be a case of too much time, too much travel.
“For me, I’ve really enjoyed the role and [am] loving it.
“We’ll just get to that point and work out what we do from there.”
Australia will bid to make it to a 4-0 lead in the Boxing Day test with England at the MCG.
