Legendary Australian musician Mike Brady hopes his beloved guitar can be returned to him, after an “opportunistic thief” stole it in South Melbourne on Sunday.

Brady described the features of the guitar in the hope someone will recognise it, stating it’s “pretty unique” and would be hard to sell off.

“It’s almost a member of my family,” Brady told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

Brady is well known for his classic song ‘Up There Cazaly’ which he sings each year at the AFL Grand Final, as well as his ‘Mike ’til Midnight’ show which he hosted on 3AW for 18 years.

“They’ll probably have a state funeral for my missing guitar!” he said.
