Legal stoush brewing over use of ‘Barry Crocker’ in commercial

Barry Crocker has three requests for an Australian-based underwear brand which has used the term ‘Barry Crocker’ in a commercial.
He’s less than impressed and said he’d likely pursue legal action against Step One.
“I’ve got three steps for them,” Crocker told 3AW Mornings.
“The first step… don’t treat me like I’m dead.
“The second step is show me the money.
“The third step …. SHOW ME THE MONEY!”

The phrase, used all over Australia in place of shocker, came about decades ago when the veteran entertainer and Gold Logie winner was at the peak of his fame.
Justin Lawrence, partner with Henderson and Ball lawyers, told 3AW it wouldn’t be an open and shut case in court, should it end up there.
“This is such an interesting case, because he’s entitled to protect his name, but the advertisers are probably going to say we aren’t using his name, we’re using the words, we are using the rhyming slang,” he said.
