Legal firm launches claim against deadly airbags
One in four Australian cars are affected by dodgy airbags.
The Takata airbag have killed 24 people around the world, with the ACCC estimating 1.8 million cars still yet to be recalled.
Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan is the legal firm spearheading the claim against seven car companies, including Volkswagen, BMW and Toyota.
Partner Damian Scattini told Neil Mitchell his firm was taking action on behalf of millions of consumers.
“These Takata airbags degrade over time and ultimately become a ticking time bomb,” he said.
“It’s an open-class action where we represent everyone affected, there’s roughly 2.5 million vehicles involved and are covered by the law suits.
“It’s a big number but it’s a big number caused by big corporations.”
