Legal expert weighs in on new sobering up centre figures
New figures have shown Victorians are not using the sobering up centres introduced late last year with only 230 people using the centres since they opened.
Legal expert at RMIT and consultant, Jarryd Bartle, says the figures are being misrepresented.
“Those centres are designed for people that have nowhere to go, and are a high risk, so the kind of people that will end up in police cells in an alternative environment,” he told Tom Elliott.
