Leading pollster Kos Samaras says John Pesutto’s days as opposition leader are numbered but his replacement will struggle to resonate with voters in the country’s most left-leaning state.

He says one MP who has been highly tipped to take the reins, Brad Battin a member of the party’s right faction will struggle to gain the support of voters with Victorians more likely to support a moderate Liberal.

“Brad Battin can try to be moderate, he can try to be progressive on some social policies but it’s going to be pretty awkward and hard for him to deliver that,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Tom Elliott.
